The most commonly observed antibiotic prescription in China is daptomycin, a prescription for the prevention of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, according to a study published in the August 2013 issue of the Chinese Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology (JCMIL).
The study, by Guangzhou Zhijiang Biopharmaceutical, analyzed the prescribing patterns of daptomycin, the active ingredient in the antibiotic doxycycline, according to data obtained from the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).
The analysis of the prescription data also included data on clinical practice patterns for all antibiotics prescribed in Chinese hospitals, which included clinical indications for antibiotics. The study found that the prescribing rates for doxycycline were similar in the different regions. The average rate of antibiotic prescriptions for doxycycline was about 30, with a median of 40. The rate for daptomycin was slightly higher than that for doxycycline, but the difference was not statistically significant.
In addition, the study found that the use of doxycycline was more common in patients with chronic respiratory infections (i.e., pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis), and among those with a history of pneumonia and bronchitis. This suggests that doxycycline is more effective in preventing antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
The authors also found that the prescribing rate of daptomycin was significantly higher in patients with a history of bronchitis than in those with no history of bronchitis. This finding is consistent with the findings of the study and suggests that doxycycline is less likely to be prescribed in patients with a history of bronchitis. This may suggest that daptomycin may not be the only treatment option for bronchitis and pneumonia.
The study also analyzed the prescribing patterns of other antibiotics and found that the average prescription rates for doxycycline were similar to those for other antibiotics. The study also found that the prescribing rates for doxycycline were higher in patients with a history of pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, and community-acquired pneumonia. This suggests that doxycycline is less likely to be prescribed in patients with a history of pneumonia and bronchitis.
The study also found that the prescribing rates for doxycycline were similar to those for other antibiotics. The study also found that the use of doxycycline was significantly higher in patients with chronic respiratory infections than in patients with no history of bronchitis.
The study also found that the prescribing rates of other antibiotics were similar to those of doxycycline, and there was no significant difference between the rates of these antibiotics in the different regions. However, the study did find that the use of doxycycline was significantly higher in patients with chronic respiratory infections than in patients with no history of bronchitis. This suggests that doxycycline is less likely to be prescribed in patients with a history of pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, and community-acquired pneumonia.
In addition, the study also found that the prescribing rates of other antibiotics were similar to those of doxycycline, and there was no significant difference between the rates of these antibiotics in the different regions. However, the study also found that the rate of doxycycline was significantly higher in patients with a history of pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, and community-acquired pneumonia.
In conclusion, the results of this study indicated that the prescribing rates of doxycycline were similar to those of other antibiotics in China.
The study also found that the prescribing rates of other antibiotics were similar to those of doxycycline. The study found that the prescribing rates of other antibiotics were significantly higher in patients with a history of pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, and community-acquired pneumonia.
